RULES & REGULATIONS
Please help make everyone’s visit enjoyable by becoming familiar with these park rules. Visitors are responsible for knowing and abiding by the park rules. A complete list is posted on the information boards at park offices, campgrounds, and throughout the park. Failure to follow park rules may result in warning, citation, arrest, and/or removal from the park.
All rules references herein are paraphrased from EBMUD Watershed rules and Regulations approved by EBMUD board of directors, unless otherwise noted. Violations are punishable pursuant to District Ordinance No. 284 and Section 12821(b) of the public utilities code, as well as other applicable codes.
BOATING
-
All vessels must be inspected prior to launching. Vessels found to contain standing water, any aquatic nuisance species, or have recently operated in or are from high risk areas will not be allowed to launch unless they are first decontaminated by park staff.

The Lake level fluctuates. Submerged objects are present. Some submerged hazards may not be marked. Stay 200 feet from hazard markers when possible. Otherwise, approach at idle speed. Adjacent markers may indicate a submerged ridge. Do not attempt to go between them except with extreme caution. Wind and other weather conditions may change suddenly. Boat at your own risk.

California boating law is enforced in the park, by the sheriff.
-
Please obey all regulatory signs and markings. Launch only at designed ramps.
-
State law mandates that children under the age of thirteen wear life jackets on vessels while underway.
-
With the exception of personal watercraft, vessels utilized outside of 5mph zones must be at least 7 feet, 10 inches in length.
-
Skiing, aquaplaning, and other personal watercraft are prohibited east of “the narrows” which are marked by buoys and signs.
-
Vessels, including personal watercraft, must not exceed the 5mph/no wake limit within 200 feet of any shoreline.
-
Stay out of areas restricted to boating and marked with the “no boats” signal. Do not tie up regulatory buoys or buoy lines.
-
Night boat operation is prohibited. Boats may be operated from 1/2 hour before sunrise until 1/2 hour after sunset. Otherwise, they must be moored, beached, or anchored immediately adjacent to the rented site.
-
Personal Watercraft shall not be operated between sunset and sunrise.
-
Non-Motorized cartop vessels between 6 feet and 12 feet are permitted in the Trout, Beaver, and Catfish ponds at south shore and are subject to California boating law requirements. Undersized rafts and swimming aids are not permitted in the ponds.
-
Personal float fishing devices may be used in the ponds only with chest waders to prevent bodily contact with the water. Personal float fishing devices are permitted in the “No Wake” zones of the reservoir (except the marina areas) without chest waders.
FISHING
-
California State Fish & Game laws and regulations are enforced. State Fishing licenses and EBMUD fishing access permits must be in your possession while fishing.
-
Live fish, mollusks, crustaceans, amphibians, reptiles, any other bait in water, and dead mollusks (except frozen or freeze dried clams) are prohibited.
-
Up to four children under 16 years of age may fish on the EBMUD permit and limit of an accompanying licensed adult or they must have their own daily EBMUD fishing permit in possession.
-
All monies collected from EBMUD fishing access permits are used to purchase trout, bass, and other available gamefish to replenish Lake Camanches fish population.
-
Fishing from or within 30 feet of a marina or launch ramp is prohibited.
-
Fishing is prohibited within 150 feet of a fish plant for one half hour following a plant.
DAILY FISHING LIMITS
-
5 Bass (12 inches and over)
-
5 Trout
-
1 Sturgeon (46-72 inches)
-
25 Sunfish (Crappie, Bluegill, etc….or any combination of these type of fish species not to exceed 25 total.)
-
No limit on Catfish or Carp.
-
Starfish limit is 5 at kids fishing area.
These limits are set in January of 2019 and are subject to change by the CA department of fish and game.
DAY USE & CAMPING
-
Fire Rings & BBQ’s can be hazardous, especially for toddlers and other small children. It is recommended to keep adjacent areas clean and free of tripping hazards and to discuss fire safety with your group.
-
Visitors registered as primary for any campsite are responsible for the actions and conduct of all other occupants, guests, and invitee’s.
-
Day use hours are from one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset. Campsite checkout time is 1:00 PM.
-
All glass bottles or glass containers are prohibited at all day use areas where swimming is allowed and any area below the reservoir high water mark not defined as a campsite.
-
Parking in South Shore’s Monument RV Camps is limited to those who have paid for RV hookup sites. RV’s parked in RV hookup sites must have the capability to properly connect to water and electricity.
-
Additionally, they must have one of the following: the capability to properly connect to the sewer drain, a portable toilet, or the equivalent.
-
Camp only in designated camping areas and only at numbered sites with a table and fire ring (except in primitive overflow at Camanche North Shore.)
-
You are required to camp in your assigned site, maintaining a reasonable and obvious physical presence. Appropriate camping permits must be displayed in your vehicle and on your campsite number marker. Contact Camanche Recreation staff if you desire to change sites.
-
Camping is limited to two vehicles per site, except in designated group campsites. There is a maximum of eight persons and four tents per campsite, except at developed group campsites where the limit is posted.
-
Campsites designated as Double, Triple, Quad, or Group sites require special fee’s.
-
Campfires in developed camping areas are permitted only in provided rings. Campfires in undeveloped camp areas and Miners Camp RV Area are permitted only in designated areas with a 10 foot bare-ground clearance or green-lawn.
-
Rock fire-rings are prohibited. Campfires must be attended at all times.
-
Barbecues belonging to visitors may be used in areas having a minimum of 10 foot bare-ground clearance or green-lawn.
-
Gathering wood or other or other fuel without a permit is prohibited.
-
Camping at Camanche is limited to no more than 14 days within a 30 day period.
-
Only one recreation Vehicle (RV) or camp trailer is allowed per campsite.
-
Please return brochures, maps, and other park literature in good condition to the front gate upon exit from the park or when you are through with them.
-
You are liable for the cost of suppression damages caused by any wildfire that starts from your negligence. (Health and Safety Code Section 13009).
-
Filling portable swimming pools greater than 100 gallons is prohibited.
-
Quiet Time hours in November-March are 8:00pm-8:00 am. In April-October, Quiet Time hours are 10:00pm to 8:00am.
-
Do not operate generators or audio equipment during Quiet Time. Operating any type of sound producing machine in a manner such as to disturb the peace, quiet and comfort of recreation users is prohibited at all times. If noisy neighbors disturb you, report it to the entrance gate, park employee’s, or patrol staff.
-
All vehicles in the park must have a permit displayed at the front, so as to be visible from outside the vehicle. Campers and night visitors must be accompanied by a responsible person, 18 years of age or older.
-
Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanies by a parent or guardian after the Quiet Time hours.
-
Vaping/Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in the park except in permitted campsites and paved day-use and marina parking lots.
-
Alcoholic beverages and vaping/smoking of any kind are prohibited in the following campgrounds: Oaks And Riverview at Camanche South Shore, and, Blue oaks Sites 4 - 31 at Camanche North Shore.
SWIMMING & WADING
-
WARNING! No Lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
-
Children should always be supervised by an adult who can swim. Never swim alone or far away from shore. Wearing of life jackets is recommended for swimmers and waders. Life Jackets are available for sale or rent at park stores. Swimming or wading is not permitted at any of the ponds except for float tubers with chest waders at the South Shore recreational ponds.
-
Do not swim, dive, or jump from launching docks, marinas, or cliffs.
VEHICLE USE
-
Riding in truck beds without seat belts, or in trailers, or trailered boats (except while launching or retrieving a vessel) is prohibited (CA Vehicle Code Section 2311a, 21712d).
-
Please keep your valuable out of view in locked vehicles.
-
The California Vehicle Code is enforced in the park. The speed limit in the campground is 10mph. Please obey all traffic signs and markings. Motorcycles and other vehicles operating on the park roads must be registered, licensed, and equipped to operate on the highway in accordance with state law. Including Golf Carts, all golf carts must be registered with the department of motor vehicles.

Motorized scooters, gas or electric powered, are prohibited.
-
Off road vehicle operation is prohibited. Please stay on improved and designated roads and parking areas.
-
Posted areas are closed due to construction, flooding, fire, or other hazard. For your own safety, stay out.
-
Avoid lake shorelines. Receding lake waters and rain leave behind soft mud. Employees cannot tow stuck trucks.
BICYCLING, RECREATING, ETC.
-
A person under 18 years of age shall not operate bicycle, or ride as a passenger on park roads unless wearing a properly fitted and fastened helmet (CA Vehicle Code Section 21212
-
Bicycling is permitted within the developed recreation area unless otherwise posted.
-
Skateboards, roller-skates, rollerblades, or similar conveyances are not permitted in the marina parking lots and boat ramps or other posted locations, nor may they be operated anywhere in the park in an unsafe manner.
-
Use of metal detectors and collection of artifacts is prohibited.
SANITATION
-
Camanche Reservoir is the source of domestic water for the South Shore Recreation area. Pollution of Lake waters or shorelines is strictly prohibited. No recreational activity is permitted inside the supply exclusionary buoyline.
-
Dumping any waste water, greywater, garbage, trash, litter, gasoline, oil, debris, excrement, or any other foreign material into the reservoir, shoreline, or anywhere in the park except in receptacles provided for that use is prohibited.
-
It is unlawful to permit any wastewater or material from any plumbing fixture in a recreational vehicle to be deposited upon the surface of the ground (Health and Safety Code Section 18554; Title 17, Section 7992).
-
It is unlawful to enter the reservoir with a vessel which has an unsealed sink or drain or flush toilet on board or which has been determined by the park to be in a mechanical condition that would allow a pollutant to enter the reservoir.
-
Persons occupying their anchored boat on the water overnight must have a sealed portable toilet which can be dumped at the campground RV dump station after exiting the reservoir. Rentals are available at the marina.
-
Pets must be adequately leashed (six foot max length) and controlled at all times. It is unlawful to allow any domestic animal to pollute the waters of the resevoir (Health and Safety Code Section 4454). Fecal matter deposited in the recreation area by dogs or any other animals must be properly removed by the person in charge of said animal.
-
It is unlawful to discharge petroleum products from any vessel or vehicle in the park.
-
Clean fish only at the fish cleaning stations provided, properly disposing of the waste substances in the receptacles provided.
-
Please do not wash dishes or clean fish at campground hose bibbs.
ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES
-
Many accessible facilities are provided in the park. If you desire an accessible campsite please inform the gate attendant. Park Policy prohibits the occupation of accessible campsites by non-disabled parties until the park has determined that all other campsites are full.
-
Unauthorized vehicles parking in designated accessible spaces not displaying distinguished placards or license plates issued for persons with disabilities may be cited and/or towed away at the owners expense.
DANGEROUS ACTIVITIES
-
It is illegal to posses or discharge any gun, firearm, bow & arrow, air or gas powered weapon or any other dangerous weapon within the park. Hunting is prohibited except at the Camanche Hills Hunting preserve.
-
Possession or use of fireworks is strictly forbidden. It is illegal to operate a hang glider, parachute, kite tube, traction kite, or parasail.
-
Feeding any kind of feral animals or wildlife is strictly prohibited.
RESERVATION POLICIES:
-
Reservations can be made a year in advance from your planned departure date. Please review our rules prior to completing your reservation.
-
Visitors registered as primary for any campsite are responsible for the actions and conduct of all other occupants, guests, and invitee’s.
-
Problem guests may not be allowed to return. Problems include noise levels after hours, over-populating cottages, destroying property, littering campgrounds, etc. Damages assessed will be charged accordingly.
-
Payment in full is required at the time of booking.
-
There is a non-refundable $13 booking fee per site when making reservations.
-
You are required to camp in your assigned site, maintaining a reasonable and obvious physical presence. Appropriate camping permits must be displayed in your vehicle and on your campsite number marker. Contact Camanche Recreation staff if you desire to change sites.
-
Camp only in designated camping areas and only at numbered sites with a table and fire ring (except in Primitive Campground at Camanche North Shore.)
-
Camping is limited to two vehicles per site, except in designated group campsites. There is a maximum of eight persons and four tents per campsite, except at developed group campsites where the limit is posted. See Campsite Capacities at the bottom of this page.

The RV Parks are for RVs which take full hook-ups only. No Tent only camping is allowed.
-
Camping at Camanche is limited to no more than 14 days within a 30 day period.
-
Gathering wood within the park or cutting down any saplings or tree limbs without a permit is prohibited and can result in a fine.
-
Golf Carts or other automotive vehicles that are NOT registered will not be allowed inside the park. Any Golf Carts or other automotive vehicles that ARE registered will be counted as a second vehicle and will be charged as such. Dirt bikes, ATVs, and any other off-road vehicles are not allowed.
-
Quiet time hours are strictly enforced and can result in eviction if multiple warnings are ignored. This includes all music to be turned down to an appropriate level as well as all generators to be turned off as to not disturb or disrupt neighbors. May-September from 10 PM until 8 AM. October-April from 8 PM until 8 AM.
-
Do not operate generators or audio equipment during Quiet Time. Operating any type of sound producing machine in a manner such as to disturb the peace, quiet and comfort of recreation users is prohibited at all times. If noisy neighbors disturb you, report it to the entrance gate, park employee’s, or patrol staff.

Rock fire rings are prohibited. Campfires must be in a designated fire pit, either your own or ours, a foot off the ground with 1 foot in diameter of cleared ground. Must be attended to at all times. Please help us to keep our campgrounds safe by extinguishing all smoldering fires completely with water before leaving the area.
-
Portable showers and portable bathrooms are not allowed at Lake Camanche. We have restrooms and shower facilities which can be used and are cleaned several times daily.
-
No drones are allowed to be flown within the Park or its surrounding air space.
-
Lake Camanche requires a deposit for cottages, Resort Rentals, and Park Models collected at the time of check-in in the amount of $200.00. The deposit will be refunded up to 72 hours of departure after the room has been inspected unless retained for damages incurred. No cash deposits allowed.
-
For campsite and RV site cancellations, a minimum of 3 days notice prior to the scheduled arrival date on a regular weekend is required to get a refund, less the reservation fee. If canceled less than 3 days, a refund will be given less the reservation fee and forfeiture of the first-night use fee.
-
For campsites and RV site cancellations, minimum of 5 days notice prior to the scheduled arrival date on a holiday weekend is required to get a refund, less the reservation fee. If canceled less than 5 days, a refund will be given less the reservation fee and forfeiture of the first-night use fee.

For all lodging, a minimum of 7 days notice prior to your scheduled arrival date will be required to receive a full refund, less a cancellation fee of $13. If cancelled within 7 days of check-in, you will forfeit one night stay as well as the cancellation fee. If cancelled within 3 days of check-in, you will forfeit any and all monies paid on your lodging reservation.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations made on or after the scheduled arrival date. No-shows are not entitled to a refund.

You may modify and adjust your reservation 3 times before we charge a change fee of $13 per modification. For any changes or cancellations please contact Camping@golakecamanche.com with your intent to cancel or request to modify or call (866)-763-5121 ext 1 to speak to a reservation agent.

May through September, there is a 2-night required minimum stay on a regular weekend or a 3-night minimum on a holiday weekend. One-night stays are permitted only during our off-season (October through April).

Except for service dogs or guide dogs, pets are allowed in specific pet-friendly units ONLY.
-
Maximum occupancy for cottages, Resort Rentals, Park Models, RV sites, and Campsites will be strictly enforced. If you exceed the maximum occupancy for your site type, additional fees and/or termination of your stay may occur.
-
Campfires are NOT allowed at any of the cottage units, Resort Rentals, or Park Models.
-
All third party events are contingent on final agency approval.

Tents and/or Recreational vehicles may not be utilized for accommodations. Recreational vehicles must be parked in designated areas only, not by the lodging units.

The kitchen in all lodging must be left clean. A minimum charge of $50.00 will be deducted from the deposit for cleaning dishes, utensils, pots and pans, silverware, and glassware.

Extremely soiled or damaged linens will be charged a minimum of $25.00 out of the deposit.
COTTAGES, RESORTS, AND PARK MODELS

We also accept certified checks, money orders, and travelers checks. Personal checks are not accepted. Payment by mail MUST be received in our office within 7 days after making a reservation but not less than 14 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
-
A minimum of 7 days notice prior to your scheduled arrival date will be required to receive a full refund, less a cancellation fee of $13. If you cancel within 7 days of check-in, you will forfeit a one-night stay as well as the cancellation fee. If you cancel within 3 days of check-in, you will forfeit any and all monies paid on your lodging reservation.

Refunds for bank card payments will be issued as a credit to your bank card.
-
Reservations made 3 days or more ahead of time can cancel anytime within the first 24 hours, penalty free.

No refund will be issued for cancellations made on or after the scheduled arrival date. No-shows are not entitled to a refund. Reservations will be canceled for non-receipt of payment.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURE
Check-In time starts at 3:00 p.m.
Check-Out time is by 11:00 a.m.

Early check-in is allowed, subject to availability, up to 2 hours maximum with a minimum 24 hour notice.

Late check-out is allowed, subject to availability, up to 3 hours maximum at the rate of $25 per hour, plus tax. Notice must be given to the GATE HOUSE no later than 11:00 AM on day of departure.

Extending a stay and/or renewal may be made at either the Gate House or the Office before 11:00 AM and are subject to availability.

CAMPING AND GROUP SITES
FACILITIES
-
Water spigots are shared between campsites within the campgrounds where they are offered, and most campsites include 1 picnic table and 1 BBQ. Some campgrounds also include dishwashing stations and laundry stations. Check the maps or call your reservation agent to see if your campground includes these amenities. Some campgrounds only offer portable bathrooms.

Tent sites do not offer electrical outlets.
-
Dogs on a leash are welcome at an additional charge of $6.50 per night unless they are service animals. South Shore offers a fenced-in Dog Park where you can let your pup run free. Aggressive dogs and their owners will be asked to leave. Please help us keep our facilities clean by picking up after your pets - waste bags are located within the Dog Park on South Shore.

Trash/Recycling stations are located throughout the campgrounds.

1 RV waste station on either Shore.
-
1 Marina store on either Shore, open daily with; wood, ice, snacks, beverages, beer, camping supplies, clothing, gifts, and fishing gear.

South Shore offers an amphitheater for summer concerts and movies during the evening time.
-
North Shore offers a Cafe beside the boat launch, open Wed-Sun 11AM-4PM.
RESERVATIONS
-
Maximum stay for campsites or group sites is 14 days within a 30-day period. There is a 3-night minimum stay for a holiday weekend and a 2-night minimum stay on a regular weekend. Campsites can be reserved a maximum of 1 year in advance to your planned departure date.
-
When reserving multiple sites under the same name, each guest will need to verify the first and last name of the primary reservation holder in order to check in.
-
Reservations made less than 3 days prior to scheduled arrival are non-refundable and non-changeable. No raincheck will be given.
-
Reservations made 3 days or more ahead of time can cancel anytime within the first 24 hours, penalty free.
-
No refund will be issued for cancellations made on or after the scheduled arrival date. No-shows are not entitled to a refund. Reservations will be canceled for non-receipt of payment.
-
We have no control over the weather. All reservation commitments must be honored regardless of weather conditions.
-
Campsites that are not pre-sold remain available on a first come first served basis.
-
Reservations can be made online.
Phone reservations will be taken by the call center daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at (866) 763-5121.
RATES AND RULES
-
A prepaid, non-refundable reservation fee of $13 is required for each site reserved in advance in addition to the required nightly fee. There will be an additional change fee charged if you change or modify an existing reservation after 3 times.
-
Except for group campsites, each general campsite allows a maximum of 8 people only (including any children). Camping is limited to two vehicles per campsite except on designated group campsites. Second vehicle will have to pay the required nightly fee of $18 at the front gate upon arrival.
-
A minimum cleaning and service fee of $50.00 will be charged for campsites that require additional cleaning time upon departure date. Damages will be assessed and camper(s) will be charged accordingly.
-
“Problem” campers may not be allowed to return, for reasons including noise levels after hours, profanity, destroying property, littering campgrounds, etc.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES

Check-In and Check-Out are strictly enforced.

Check-In time starts at 2:00 pm. Check-Out time is at 1:00 pm.

All campers need to vacate their site by 1:00 pm.

Hours of Entry: 5:00 am to 11:00 pm Daily
-
As a courtesy to other guests, there will be no arrivals from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
-
An ID to match with the name of the person on the reserved site will be required at the gate before entering the campground.
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE SITES
-
Recreational vehicles (RV’s) must have the capability to connect to all three utilities: water, electric and sewer (black and grey water) and establish a proper sewer connection.
-
Only one RV or camp trailer is allowed per campsite.
-
Parking in South Shore’s Monument RV Camps is limited to those who have paid for RV hookup sites. Park rules limit tents to one per site in this area.
-
Campfires in Miners Camp RV area are permitted only in designated areas with a 10-foot bare ground clearance and in approved fire containers.
CAMPSITE CAPACITIES
SOUTH SHORE
-
Single 8-person tent campsites are limited to 2 vehicles per campsite. The first vehicle is included in the price of the campsite and the second vehicle is $17 per night extra. We do not have any overflow parking at our facility. We encourage carpooling or the purchase of another campsite, if necessary.
-
Group sites do not have any fees for parking.
-
Double 16-person campsites are limited to 4 vehicles per campsite.
-
Triple 24-person campsites are limited to 6 vehicles per campsite.
-
Quad 32-person campsites are limited to 8 vehicles per campsite.
-
Sugarloaf 64-person group camp is limited to 16 vehicles.
-
Gold Run 1 88-person group camp is limited to 22 vehicles.
-
Gold Run 2 80-person group camp is limited to 20 vehicles.
NORTH SHORE

Single 8-person tent campsites are limited to 2 vehicles er campsite. The first vehicle is included in the price of the campsite and the second vehicle is $17 per night extra. We do not have any overflow parking at our facility. We encourage carpooling or the purchase of another campsite, if necessary.

Group sites do not have any fees for parking.

Tier 1 12-person group campsite is limited to 6 vehicles.

Tier 2 24-person group campsite is limited to 10 vehicles.

East Ridge 72-person group campsite is limited to 25 vehicles.

Blue Oaks Group 72-person group campsite is limited to 26 vehicles.
CAMPERS AND GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS WHILE STAYING AT LAKE CAMANCHE.
